My legs tend to "sleep" when I sit cross-legged. The sensation is caused by a pinched nerve / pressure. I do not know exactly what the physiology of the phenomenon, but what it provokes. I suspect that you are the nerves in the ankles, slightly compressed, which will have the "sleepy" feeling. If your legs and feet were asleep, and then it was a pinched nerve, above the knee. Prevention? Not really sure, but a probable solution, we thought Cerner nerve is compressed (probably very important when the whole foot Numb / Sleep) and surgery for open space where the nerve crosses. The second option I can think of is to run less often instead of running for a long time. Your question imprunn from there do not cause deafness.
Good luck. I have caused permanent numbness in the heel by nerve damage in his ankle. Less original, but probably similar to you.

Tight shoes. You have to walk barefoot.
